I watched as the quail attacked the bird seed block with a passion as the sun made its morning trip peeking over the mountains casting a golden glow which steadily becomes a radiant heater only Phoenicians understand . The bird bath I religiously fill with water each morning has become “Theee Spot to be, for Bees” They seem to enjoy the cool water in the early morning hours and also coexist with birds of all kinds. Occassionally one falls in the pool and must be rescued to provide air conditioning for the hive. I wonder if they know I just saved them. I savor the early mornings with a hike up the mountain paths, usually on a collision course with bicyclists who speed with iron legs; up paths I have a slow time walking up. I sit on a huge black rock savoring the view while watching a happy dog pass me with a panting owner. Who can resist a beautiful desert morning.
